Project #7: Take A Stand!

Objectives:

• Students will learn about themes in art by researching a cause that is meaningful to them.
• Students will explore the selection tools (lasso, magnetic lasso, quick selection, etc.), pen tool (anchor points), healing brush, clone stamp, masking layers, crop tool, and image resize
• Students will learn to select a section of an image, and use their knowledge of Photoshop tools to manipulate several objects by selecting, copying, cutting, and pasting to create a new image.
• Students will write a Process Paper detailing their research and what they learned about their cause, in addition to the symbols or objects chosen.
• Students will become familiar with various color printing options for digital artists.

Project #6: Painterly Landscape

Objectives

• Learn about Impressionism & Post-Impressionism artists: their subject matter and painterly styles.
• Use a Landscape photo (you took) as inspiration for creating a digital painting.
• Use Photoshop Brush tool/Presets, Color Palette/Swatch menus, Pencil Tool, Selection Tools, and Layers to create a digital painting.
• Write a Process paper detailing your experiences and what you learned.
• Get familiar with the various color printing options for digital painters.

Project #5: Design a Crest/Logo

Objective:

• Create a personal/family Crest Logo using vector based images, which can be scaled to any size without losing quality.
• Lay the building blocks for your logo by first drawing some basic shapes in illustrator. Use the tools available in illustrator to adjust shapes and get them looking how you want them for you logo.
• Use the color and gradient tool options to fine tune the coloring and shading of the shapes you just created.
• Arrange your shapes in an interesting Logo composition.
• *Optional: Personalize your logo with text.

Eyes Closed: Because taking selfies with your eyes clothes is obviously the norm.

Silhouette: The only way I could think of how to get a clear silhouette was the use of  a flashlight for shadow puppets.

Objective:  Learn to understand how your camera works through repetition of process.  Shoot daily photos of objects, abstract ideas & themes to stimulate the thinking process in decisions about subject matter, improve upon technical skills of framing, lighting and focal point, and build your own copyright free image library.

Objective:  Create a triptych (3 photographs) using the one or several of the following (3) photography techniques (close-up, stop-action, and/or panning), that you learned about in class.   All three images should have a unifying component; i.e. subject matter, theme, story, elements/principles, etc. - They should appear as though they go together.

Note: These techniques help to stimulate the thinking process in decisions about subject matter and to improve upon technical skills of framing, lighting and focal point. 

Project #3: Landscape, Portrait, Still Life

                                                                                                                           

    

                     

         

Objective:  Learn to understand how your camera works through repetition of process.  Shoot several photos of each of the following subjects:

Still Life: An arrangement of objects (your choice)
Landscape: Naturescapes, cityscapes, nightscapes, etc. (best time to shoot (Dawn, Dusk)
Portrait: single or group of persons/animals.
These are themes to stimulate the thinking process in decisions about subject matter and to improve upon technical skills of framing, lighting and focal point.  Add to your image library.
